Indian Bangalore: The woman who was attacked on the head with a machete inside an ATM in Bangalore is fully conscious now, say doctors, but she has severe injuries and a plastic surgery today will try to heal her broken nose. The right side of her body is paralyzed. It will take her months to recover, doctors said.
The assault on her has been captured by security cameras at the ATM located inside a small store but the attacker who can be clearly seen. He has not been identified or arrested yet.
The 44-year-old went to use an ATM on Tuesday morning when the man followed her in, pulled down the shutters and tried to rob her. when she resisted, he pulled the machete out of a bag and struck her repeatedly.
Hours later, passers-by noticed blood trickling out from under the shutters concealing the ATM and called the police.
The woman worked at a bank located near the ATM where she was attacked. There were no security guards at the ATM located in the heart of Bangalore, close to a police station.
“The man assaulted her on the head and face. She fell unconscious. The person left with her purse which contained some credit cards and mobile phones and pulled the shutter down while leaving. Surprisingly, the jewellery the lady was wearing was not taken away,” said Kamal Pant, Joint Police Commissioner, Bangalore. (NDTV)
